Driver, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic
Winterport Ambulance, part of the Winterport Fire and Rescue Association, a private non-profit organization, is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our ranks. Providing emergency medical service to both Winterport and Frankfort, Winterport Ambulance averages 500 calls per year with a goal to provide swift and proficient care.
The service operates with one “frontline” paramedic-level ambulance, and a backup ambulance stocked to the AEMT level, with typical staffing structured as one driver and one EMS provider 24/7. Shifts are per-diem, 12 hour blocks, running from 0600-1800 and vice versa.
Minimum qualifications include a Maine Driver’s license and AVOC or EVOC certification. Members who live within 8 minutes of the station are permitted to respond from home, and members who have to stay in the station receive a $2/hour stipend. Hourly pay rates are as follows:

Ambulance Billing Specialist
Seeking an individual to join our team of professional ambulance billing specialists in Windham, Maine. The job includes but is not limited to, reviewing PCRs to select the correct ICD 10 and procedure codes along with collecting accurate patient demographic data. Filing clean electronic claims to insurance companies and following up on payments or denials.

Starting minimum hourly pay rate is $18 with room to negotiate up based on years of experience and credentials. Monday through Friday 8-4. Opportunity to work remotely a few days per month.
Flight Nurse/Flight Paramedic
For the nurse position you must have 3 years’ experience (no less than 4000 hours) in a critical care unit.
For the medic position you must have 3 years’ experience (no less than 4000 hours) in a busy 911 system.

On Call Member (Call Department)
We are always looking for on-Call members for both fire/EMS, fire, EMS or Support positions. The department hires on-call members several times throughout the year.
General Requirements: (This list does not constitute all requirements. Please contact the FD for more information)
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must successfully complete a drivers license check, background investigation, and a physical (Provided by the FD)
- Must respond to a minimum of 15% of calls for service and attend a minimum of 75% of scheduled trainings.
- Successfully complete probationary training (Training will be provided by the FD)
- Must reside within the community
Being an on-call fire/rescue employee is not an easy task. There is an enormous amount of commitment needed and expected, but it is one of the most rewarded experiences you will ever have.
The Topsham Fire & Rescue Department is also looking for members that may not want to respond to incidents, but still want to volunteer within their community. There are plenty of administrative tasks that must be accomplished every day.
Per Diem Members
The Topsham Fire & Rescue Department consistently has an ongoing need for the following per diem positions:
- FF/EMS Provider (EMT, AEMT, Paramedic)
- EMS Provider (EMT, AEMT, Paramedic)
Preference is for individuals that are dual trained as firefighters & ems providers.
