Full Time Paramedic/EMT Firefighter
The Town of Scarborough Fire Department is seeking highly motivated and customer service minded individuals to join our team of public safety professionals. The Town has a population of 20,023 and covers 54 square miles from six neighborhood fire stations. We respond to over 4,100 calls for service annually providing advanced life support EMS treatment & transport as well as full-service fire suppression, marine and technical rescue services to the citizens and visitors to our community.

Our full-time staff is covered under a collective bargaining agreement which includes a competitive wage and an excellent benefits package including a 25 year, no age limit, 2/3 salary, retirement plan. Pay range for Firefighter/Paramedics is $22.76 – $28.01 and the current CBA allows for the recognition of up to five (5) years of applicable experience for lateral entry purposes.
Minimum requirements include: HS diploma or GED equivalent; Interior Structural Firefighter Certification or equivalent – Firefighter I & II preferred; completion of State certified AVOC/EVOC class; EMT-B License (EMT-P license preferred); A valid CPAT certification (within 1 year) or successful completion of a Physical Ability Test (PAT), and post-offer comprehensive physical exams.

Provide paramedic level care and beyond to patients based on acute, urgent, and non-emergent requests for service in a rural environment with clinic staff and local EMS resources in a coverage area larger than the state of Rhode Island. The position requires an interest and desire for professional growth in our Critical Access Physician Extender Program, working alongside physicians via telemedicine with advanced procedures such as ultrasound, suturing, rapid sequence intubation, and fiberglass splinting.
